Recently Launched Site on Family History in Pulau Bidong

My family comes from a pretty unique background with a unique experience.  They are part of what is known as “The Boat People” of Pulau Bidong, in Malaysia.  They suffered through more than a year of refugee camp in Malaysia, where they lived in times of little food, and a stranded island feeling.

Here is an excerpt of the post I made about my family’s trip.

Although I never set foot on Pulau Bidong, my parents have experienced it all.  They retell stories and recount memories of what it was like in Pulau Bidong during 1978-1979.  Their stories are moving enough for me to tell it to the world.  I see a huge interest in talking and connecting with other Pulau Bidong ex-Refugees when I googled “Pulau Bidong” so I decided to write this story of my parents to see if they can connect with their long lost neighbors of Bidong.  Read more »

MyCokeRewards - A Gift I Am Receiving!

I just started collecting these Coke codes, starting last month and I got enough points to get some slick prizes.  I can tell you that if you do not work at a gas station or do anything that requires handling of Coke material, than collecting points is not a feat that you can do alone.

It requires much more than just the 3 point bottle caps.  You will be needing the 25 point codes located on the bottom of the 32 pack cans of any Coke product.  I collected 30-40 of these pieces to boost me up to 1000 points.

16MPH Speed Limit Sign

I was bicycling around toward the marina and found this interesting new sign they put up in one neighborhood so I decided to snap a photo of it from my cellphone (pardon the bad quality).

I find this very funny because I was thinking to myself, where the heck do you find a 16mph sign?  I thought they only made them in increments of 5 mph.

Lost My Camera!!!

I just came back from the Dominican Republic from spring break and before baggage check-in at the DR airport, I threw my camera with all my pictures into a checked luggage. Upon arriving at San Francisco Airport, I open my bag to get my camera and it is not there. All 400+ pictures taken from that Canon PowerShot SD750 are all gone. Now hopefully filing this claim form will do some good. I wonder if any of Delta’s agents or any of the TSA’s took it.

Facebook Private Photos Code

Update 9/10/08:

Another guide on how to view private myspace / facebook profiles. This time, no codes needed!

http://www.laatedaa.com/2008/09/10/utilizing-social-engineering-to-view-private-facebook-myspace-profiles/

NEW CODE / Twitter Contest (500 Followers)!!!

http://www.laatedaa.com/2008/02/27/facebook-private-photos-code-part-deux/

NOT WORKING BUT FINDING NEW CODES!

To view the private facebook photos, you will need to find out two things.

1. You will need the facebook ID number of the person you want to view.

2. Then, you will need a Facebook ID number of one of the target’s friend.
-You can get the person you want to view, friend’s ID number this way.

If the person you want to view has the “view friends” on their private profile, then get the ID from there.
Next, enter this URL into your browser:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1234567&id=[Person's Friend's ID]&op=1&view=all&subj=[Person's ID]

Replace the brackets with numbers such as…

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1234567&id=1234&op=1&view=all&subj=123456

You should then have been allowed in!

To navigate, use the Previous/Next buttons to scroll through the album pages.

It’s always a hit and miss so you will need to try multiple times but using a different [Person's Friend's ID] while letting the [Person's ID (the one you want to view)] the same.

Hope it is in good use.

Edit: Here is what some commentors have to say about how to get it working even better…

jas8989:

To fix the “oops” problem:

1) Click on the “view (persons name)profile” link”

2) Hit back on your browser

3) Carry on browsing the pics

4) Do this whenever the problem arises

someone:

if you’re using firefox, just middle click the Next or Prev to open it in a new tab and you will be able to browse all with no problem.

CaV:

easy way to fix the OOPS problem: turn javascript off. works for firefox at least.
