Daily Tip 7:How To: Remove / Strip DRM off iTunes Music Tutorial

The tutorial shown below is for users who is annoyed by iTunes DRM and wants to strip it off because they want to play it in other devices, use it as background music in a home video, or anything else that DRM limits it to do.  Many people know you strip off the DRM of iTunes music by simply burning the song to a CD, and ripping it back over, losing very little quality (if settings are correct).  This method does the same exact thing but you will not need a CD-RW disc, a CD ROM drive, or even need to burn anything!  It’s that simple.  Let’s show you how to perform this.

We are going to be using a program called TuneClone.  TuneClone is basically a program that acts as a virtual CD drive that allows you “burn” MP3 from iTunes and “rip” it.  TuneClone “lies” to your computer saying that you have a CD-RW drive that it will burn to (like Alchohol 120%).

How to Shoot “Light Painting Pictures”

This following tutorial is a follow up on the recent article introducing Light Painting.  This tutorial will teach many users the basics of this cool photographing technique.

Because this is a basic tutorial, for the sake of it, I will be showing these techniques with a digital point and shoot camera, specifically with a Canon SD870IS.

For these point and shoots to work, you must have a manual mode on your camera (not automatic).  The manual mode is what is required to do these light painting photographs.  At least 4 seconds exposure time will provide adequate time for moving to the “canvas” to “paint” your picture.

Utilizing Social Engineering to View Private Facebook / Myspace Profiles

Update 11/10/08:

Try this new method if the user is on Myspace profile 2.0

http://www.laatedaa.com/2008/11/10/myspace-20-loophole/

This [laatedaa?] guide is meant to show people the steps on viewing someone else’s Facbook or Myspace profile without the need of any confusing and messy codes that may in the future be patched.  The technique used below is the oldest form of obtaining information.  It’s called social engineering.  I’ll take social engineering to the next step by applying it to be able to view private Facebook or Myspace profiles.  This method is highly effective and will 90% of the time work.

The following steps are intended for educational purposes only.

Although this may be considered time-consuming, you will definetly have all the information / pictures you want from the target person.

Daily Tip 3:Browse Firefox with Higher Fidelity / Quality

I bet many of you don’t know this but Firefox lowers quality of images shown on a webpage to allow quicker surfing.  To toggle this setting to make pictures “pop” with higher colors, just follow this trick.  This is very helpful in viewing perfect color pictures on Flickr or if you are a hardcore color profile fanatic and you want to get the most out of your colors.

Basically, this tip enables color management profiles so if you do not have any color management profiles enabled on your computer / monitor, don’t do the following or else your pictures may look even worse.

How to Download Torrents Through a Proxy or Firewall

You may find yourself in a situation where you’re unable to download *.torrent files onto the PC that you’re using. Perhaps you’re sitting in an Internet Café, public Library or other place that blocks the actual downloading (or opening) of torrent files to the computer. I know that some Universities do this, as do many non-commercial ISPs & corporate firewalls (proxies) at the workplace.

Many firewalls and security measures will block P2P traffic, filesharing programs (and any new installations of such), or disallow new ports from being added to the “allow” list. These are somewhat difficult to override, depending on the situation (not to mention risky to attempt at work). But if you are able to install, use and launch a BitTorrent client, but not download *.torrent files for it, then this tip may work well. (You may still be able to run µTorrent through a USB stick in situations where new software installations/P2P programs are not allowed).

This works for both public and private BitTorrent sites, although the procedures vary slightly. “Public” is explained first, with some additional ‘private’ torrent tips to follow.
