iPhone Game Pad Mockup
I was thinking about how gaming works on the iPhone. Most of the games available today are mostly accelerometer based. I saw a recent video about Quake being on the iPhone but it doesn’t seem plausible to have touch screen controls such as for shooting and jumping while moving. It just won’t work very well if you have those together. What if we wanted to create a game that was accelerometer based but also add some button functionality that makes gameplay more fun?
I made a mockup of what a gamepad for the iPhone may look like. Hopefully this will go out to some hardware companies that can create this product so gaming will be more in-depth.
How it would work is that it will be powered by the dock connector with all the buttons going through the dock connector to send the commands from the buttons through. I think this is a pretty cool idea if people want to scrape their Nintendo DS / PSP and just stick with one thing in their pocket. Of course, battery life will be a concern, but what if we had a battery pack behind the iPhone that is included with the game pad for extended play? Yes, let’s see it happen guys!
