Cool Stuff, Daily Tip, Videos, Website Review | 10 Comments

I know it has been a while since I posted on the blog, I decided to review a website that has been pretty handy during my college dorm life. It’s called Icefilms.info It’s a website that has links to a bunch of movies, and TV shows that you can stream or download. We always watch a movie or two, when we are finished with our homework of course, and it is a great free way to spend an evening before hitting the sack. Icefilms has the latest releases including some movies still in theater such as 2012. It also has TV shows in which most are high definition quality. The quality of these streams are excellent, even when hooked up to a 42in plasma fullscreened, as we do so in the dorm rooms. The video is excellent (most of the newer movies are great, older ones aren’t too bad) to the point where it is close to DVD quality. The sound is also great when hooked up to a nice pair of speakers (we use Logitech’s Z-2200 THX certified 2.1 sound system). Icefilms does not host any of it’s content, thus making it a “legal” site. There’s a search bar for those who want to have quick and easy access but there’s also an A-Z listing of all movies for the ones who don’t know what to watch. If your on a fast connection, buffer time is about 1 minute and the movie will start playing. All you need to get started watching is Firefox with Greasemonkey Icefilms script, and DivX. After all those are installed, then you are set to watch the extended list of movies they have to offer!

Biking
Working out around my campus is great, especially on a bike. With rolling hills, steep climbs, and fast downhills, a bike is the most preferred workout for me around campus. I first started out with a Specialized Rockhopper semi-offroad bike, but found that climbing hills in that 30+ pound clunker was too hard.

I could not go around fast enough, nor easy enough. So I thought that I would plunker down some cash to get a nice starting road bike. I emailed my cousins who are both bike and running aficionados and asked their take on which bikes were good. We both decided on the 2010 Giant Defy 2.

It’s a fast, agile, bike, weighing just under 20 pounds. It comes standard with Shimano Tiagra gearing and Sora brakes. The shifters are all on the drops, as you can see on the bike picture above. It’s so much faster than riding a mountain bike, and I don’t get tired as fast as I do before. I’ve clocked in speeds at over 35 mph, keeping up with traffic easily. Overall, it’s a great starter road bike.

The entries are now over, please check back on the site for the winners. Winners will be picked within 1 – 2 weeks (depending on the Demonoid site). They will also be then notified by email if they have won.
Because of the much greatly asked for and the biggest giveaway success [laatedaa?] has had. I appreciate my readers of the [laatedaa?] blog, another Demonoid.com Invitation Code Giveaway contest is now underway for the month of September 2009. We are giving a Demonoid invitation code to 5 (five) lucky readers who comment on the blog between now, and September 30th 2009 ending at 11:59PM PST.
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
Entries start today and will be accepted up until September 30th 2009 at 11:59PM PST (please, 1 entry per person or else will be disqualified). Next to your comment will be a number (starts from 1 and goes up sequentially), and with that number, I will run a randomizer script. The script will choose 5 (five) numbers and the people with the numbers that the script chooses, wins.
To enter, all you need to do is post a comment (along with your name and email address) on this post saying why you love [laatedaa?], and perhaps a simple explanation of why you would need such a code. Only 5 lucky winners will be chosen at random, and will be sent their invitation code if they are chosen winner by the randomizer script.
Also, I will not give any codes out until at least 50 entries are entered.
Thanks again for reading [laatedaa?]!

Notes is another name for blogs.
This works on “private facebooks” only if the person has their ‘note settings’ to where “everyone” or “friend of friends” can see them.
If a person makes an individual blog set to “everyone” it still won’t be visible with this code unless they have their note settings set to “everyone” at facebook.com/privacy/?view=notes
code and put target id for XXXXXX…..

Thanks to honem for submitting this code.

This new code will work on any private Myspace profile’s blog except if the blog is set to “diary”, “friends”, or “preferred list”.
Directions:
-Login to myspace
-Enter the following url in the address bar (replace x’s with target’s friend id):
vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.blogsafemode&friendid=xxxxxx
-hit enter
If you don’t see anything, this means that they have their blog set to something mentioned above, or they might not have any blog postings.
Thanks to Patrick and RosstheBoss for the tip.
